Komodo Herping Tour
Snakes are fascinating creatures! Instead of fear, let’s approach them with respect and understanding."

Hello Special Guests,
We felt it was important to create this page for those who need guidance on choosing locations and understanding pricing information, as well as the routes involved.
This is not a detailed specification but rather a general overview of important information about what you can expect to see at each location. We have highlighted key points based on our field experiences.
Trimeresurus Insularis // Pit Viper (Blue, Green, Yellow)
Blue Pit Viper
We have only found this species on Padar Island, typically during the night or early morning. It is rare to see them during the day due to the heat.
Conclusion: We will need a boat for rest after the journey, as these tours usually finish late at night, making it impossible to return to Labuan Bajo. Early morning is also an option, but we will need a fast boat departing from Labuan Bajo, which takes approximately 1 hour.
Green Pit Viper
This species can be found in Padar, Komodo, Rinca, and Labuan Bajo. We typically encounter them at night.
Yellow Pit Viper
We have not encountered them in Komodo National Park; they are only found in Labuan Bajo and usually at night.
Daboia Siamensis // Russell's Viper
So far, we have only found this species in Rinca during both day and night.
Timor Python
This species has also only been found in Rinca during both day and night.
Sea Kraits
These can be seen in all locations (Padar, Komodo, Rinca) and are typically found at both night and during the day.
Reticulated Python
Found in Snake Cave, which is about 50 km from Labuan Bajo. Visits can be made any day except Friday. According to local beliefs and advice, we are welcome to visit throughout the week but should avoid Fridays.
Komodo Dragon
To capture great moments with these creatures, we recommend an adventure trek away from the usual tourist spots frequented by leisure trips or combined tours. This often requires longer treks, typically done in Rinca or Loh Wau in Komodo National Park.
Important Note:
Nature is unpredictable; there may be times when we do not find the reptiles we seek, or we might discover species we have never encountered before.
In summary: there are locations where we can visit in the morning and return by afternoon, and others where sightings are primarily at night, requiring an overnight boat stay.
Important Tip:
If possible, we recommend traveling with others to help share operational costs, especially for boats and vehicles, as these expenses can be high. Other costs will be adjusted based on group size.
We hope this information helps you determine how many days you will need for your trip!
